For toothache or inflamed gums, put a few drops of clove oil on a piece of cotton wool and rub over the painful area.
Clove oil must not be swallowed or used internally. Don’t get any clove oil in your eyes (by rubbing your eyes with clove oil on your fingers) as this will irritate them.
If clove oil comes into contact with the eyes: Rinse eyes carefully with water for a few minutes.
Take out any contact lenses. Continue to rinse.
Swallowed in large doses, clove oil is caustic and toxic. Internal application in high doses can cause permanent damage to the liver.
Therefore, always keep clove oil **out of reach of children**. If you're unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using clove oil.
