Cinnamon

Required material

½ to 1 tsp cinnamon (Ceylon cinnamon)

1 glass water or tea

Application

Powdered cinnamon can help for digestive problems, bloating and diarrhoea.

Take half to one teaspoon (= 2g) of dry cinnamon and wash down with water or tea.

Please note! Maximum daily dose: 4g = 2 teaspoons. Don’t take cinnamon for longer than 1 to 2 days.

Warning:

If possible, use Ceylon cinnamon rather than Cassia cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon contains more cumarin, which can damage the liver in high doses. If you aren't sure, specifically ask the health shop for Ceylon cinnamon.

The following persons should not use cinnamon as a household remedy for diarrhoea and digestive problems:

  • Children
  • Persons with stomach and intestinal ulcers
  • Persons with high blood pressure
  • Pregnant women (cinnamon contains essential cinnamon oil, which in higher doses can stimulate the uterine muscles and induce labour.
