Stay overnight at an SAC hut

On the «Hütten der Schweizer Alpen» (in german) overview you’ll find all the SAC huts in Switzerland – including the 110 SAC huts where CSS clients can stay overnight at more favourable conditions. When checking in, just show your insurance card and you will be given SAC member conditions.

Far from the madding crowd

«There are no famous mountains or fancy nightlife spots here.» This is how the wardens describe the Lidernen hut. It is in its simplicity that the mountain hut has so much to offer. Especially for families, as the Lidernen hut is easy to reach and offers a special programme for family holidays. Activities for children and teenagers include climbing for beginners, a visit to the Alpine cheese dairy, or making a cooling herbal balm. Those who prefer a beautiful hike can choose from a range of options between a gentle round trip or an ascent to the Fulen and Rossstock summits.

Directions

With the car or train and post bus via Sisikon to Chäppeliberg. From Chäppeliberg various hiking trails of around an hour to 2.5 hours lead to the Lidernen hut. For a more comfortable ascent, a small cable car goes up to Alp Spilau and from there the hut is a 15-minute walk.

Hiking tip: Via the Alpler Lake to Chäppeliberg

On warm summer days, the hike via the Alpler Lake to Chäppeliberg is well worth the effort. From the Lidernen hut, walk to the mountain station of the Gitschen cable car. From there the trail runs via Alplen to the wildly romantic Alpler Lake. Here it’s worth taking a refreshing dip before following the signposts back towards Chäppeliberg.
