Refreshing autumn drink: home-made apple ice tea
Ice tea enjoys immense popularity. How about making the tasty traditional drink yourself and in season? With just a few cleverly combined autumnal ingredients, you can concoct a refreshing drink that scores highly on all counts.
Apple and lemon ice tea
Apples are true all-rounders. Not only do they contain many valuable ingredients such as potassium, vitamin C and quercetin, they also regulate digestion and can be used as a vegan egg substitute in baking. For a refreshing ice tea, apples and lemons are the perfect mix – and not only is this delicious, but the antioxidants in the lemon juice also prevent the apples from discolouring.
Ingredients
Only a few ingredients are needed for one litre of this refreshing drink:
1 apple
1 lemon
2 Rooibos teabags
400ml apple juice
ice cubes
mint
Method
- Boil 700ml water in a pan and remove from the hob.
- Peel the lemon and the apple with a potato peeler and add the peel to the water.
- Add the two Rooibos teabags and leave to draw for 5-10 minutes.
- Pour through a sieve, add the apple juice and leave to cool completely.
Serving tips
Quarter the apple, remove the core and cut into slices. Also cut the lemon into slices. Fill glasses with ice cubes, add the lemon and apple slices and pour in the tea. Decorate with mint.
